As someone who isnt a star wars fan, I need to know what youre on about. in the new versions of ET: The Extra Terrestrial, vertigo trailer is a scene change toward the end. in the original the FBI guys all had shotguns, and in the new version they replaced the shotguns with walkie-talkies. Spielberg cited something to the effect of i thought that the guns were overly aggressive in nature considering they were just kids, and i wanted to replace them with something softer and more blah blah blah. which i think is malarkey. shotguns are the realistic choice. if there were a creature from another planet on earth, you better believe the damn military is going to be there with tanks. i dont care how sweet and cuddly the alien is. in truth, i think Spielberg was spending too much time around George Lucas and all his improving his old films crap. and more endings that are torn to shreds, like shoving Ewan McGregor at the end of RotJ with Anakin.
